Oldbury Park’s Mainstream Autism Base provides a structured and productive learning environment for children with Autism. The Base is part of the special educational provision commissioned by Worcestershire Children First and we are funded to provide 8 places. The Base staff team are Mrs Ceri Kay and Ms Esther Miller (SENDCo), with Mrs Mandy Miller and Mrs Beki Harbourne.
The curriculum within the Base follows the curriculum established for the whole school, although this is adapted for individual pupils as part of reasonable adjustments. All Base pupils are fully included within our school community, participating in lessons with their mainstream class as well some smaller group sessions in the Base. The expectation is that, long-term, pupils will attend mainstream lessons for the majority of their timetable.
Children attending a Mainstream Autism Base in Worcestershire are required to have a diagnosis of Autism and an EHCP. Mainstream Autism Base places are co-ordinated by Worcestershire Children First (not our school) and the limited places are allocated as they become available according to need and in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice.
