Year 6 is a busy and exciting year for the children! Expectations of behaviour and attitude to learning remain high, as our Year 6 pupils are the role models throughout the rest of the school community. In particular, our school house captains take on many responsibilities during the year. In addition to this, each Year 6 pupil is expected to undertake a variety of roles within the school, including Playleaders, Infant Helpers, Office Assistants and Prefects. We hope that within the year, the children will be able to experience these responsibilities. Our aim is for the children to become independent and creative thinkers, with a resilient and positive attitude.
The Year 6 curriculum is covered through a range of exciting topics and the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills are challenged so that they are prepared for the ‘End of Key Stage 2 National Assessments’ and their transition to high school. We know that the children will be provided with many opportunities which contribute to a well-rounded Year 6 experience. Highlights include: the Year 6 residential, Bell-boating, sporting events, the summer production and the leavers’ trip.
Without doubt, Year 6 proves to be a challenging, yet memorable, end to primary school.
