Year 6

"The curriculum is covered through a range of interesting topics and the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills are challenged so that they are prepared for the ‘End of Key Stage 2 National Assessments’ and their transition to high school."

Welcome to Year 6.

Year 6 is a busy and exciting year. Expectations of behaviour and attitude to learning remain high, as our Year 6 pupils are seen as role models throughout the rest of the school community. In particular, our school house captains, elected at the end of Year 5, take on many responsibilities during the year. In addition to this, each Year 6 pupil is expected to undertake a variety of roles within the school, including Playleaders, Infant Helpers, Office Assistants and Prefects.

Our whole school Skills for Learning and Life (Respect, Collaboration, Communication, Perseverance, Concentration and Independence) are embedded throughout life in Year 6. The curriculum is covered through a range of interesting topics and the children’s knowledge, understanding and skills are challenged so that they are prepared for the ‘End of Key Stage 2 National Assessments’ and their transition to high school. Alongside this, children are provided with many other opportunities which contribute to a well-rounded Year 6 experience. Highlights include: the Year 6 residential, Bell-boating, sporting events, the summer production and the leavers’ trip.

Without doubt, Year 6 proves to be a challenging, yet memorable, end to primary school.

The Year 6 team are Miss Kelly Hill and Mr Tim Williams.

The children are also supported in their learning by: Mrs Julia Ricketts and Mrs Thelma Beddoes.
