Through all our learning, indoors and outdoors, we aim to promote confident, creative and independent individuals.

Welcome to Reception!
At Oldbury Park Primary RSA Academy, children in Reception learn through a play-based curriculum. We provide a balance of focused activities and opportunities for child-initiated play. We begin each half-term with a new exciting topic and the learning journey is led by the children’s interests. The children are supported in developing their characteristics of effective learning: playing and exploring; active learning; and, creating and thinking critically.

The children have access to indoor and outdoor areas every day and we are very lucky to have a brand new outdoor area. The children are especially enjoying using the new race track.
Throughout the year, the children develop their skills in the 17 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our focus at the beginning of the year is on the Prime Areas (Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development). The children’s progress in these areas then allows them to be successful in the Specific Areas (Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design).
Every week, both classes spend an afternoon at Forest School (RC – Tuesday and RH – Wednesday). This provides opportunities for risk-taking, learning about the environment and lots of fun! We also have a weekly PE session (RC – Wednesday and RH – Tuesday).
During their time in Reception, your children will learn to work collaboratively, persevere with challenges and develop friendships.

Please come and see a member of the Reception Team if you ever have any questions. We are always happy to help.  RC and RH with- Mrs Cartwright, Miss Hall, Miss Davis, Mrs Bowkett  and Mrs Burchell
